Hubby and I had an easy time picking out a handful of girl names we both loved. Then three months later sitting in the ultrasound I got a full view of testicles and penis. We are having a boy.
Finding a name for our male child has been difficult, I don't know if hubby was set on a girl and is having a hard time adjusting to having a son, or if memories of his childhood conjures up ill feelings. Either way he has not liked a single name I have chosen.
A few weeks ago he said "It's just not important, I know nothing about this kid or what he looks like, how can I choose a name?". Ok, fair enough. (I didn't remind him about the list of girl names) I let it go.
Seeing how distressed I was he gave me a project. Hubby has taken to giving me projects now that I stay at home and he is on the road most days a week. Write the alphabet and put a name you like beside each letter. Great, I can do this.
I made my list, leaving out a number of letters that I couldn't find a name for.
Sunday, hubby was looking up baby names. I told him where to find my list on my computer. I said "Fill in the ones you like and erase ones you don't". He quickly read through the names and announced he didn't like any of my choices and stands by his original idea of naming the boy after him. Dejected again I admitted defeat and thought about "the boy without a name" swimming around in my belly.
Today I opened the list to see that he in fact put some new names down. Hooray! The man is trying....Until I read them. N - Nylon, O-Ovarian, U-Upton, V-Vernier, and Y-Yahweh.
The boy without a name continues to swim.

Nylon??? lmao!
LOL!! 'Come here, Ovarian - or Ova for short :P To make it more masculine you could call him Ovar. It almost sounds like a wrestler's name.
We always had a hard time picking out girl's names. The very same thing would happen: I had a bunch of names I liked and hubby vetoed every one. In our case this worked out, as we ended up with three boys. But don't worry. Little Ovar Yahweh will get his name soon.
BWAHAHA
i have always loved Zackary and Nathaniel for boys names.
but you know, nylon would be my first choice by far LOL
:P Ugh. Well, best to each make up lists of names, and don't look at them, until the baby has arrived. Then see what he looks "like", and compare lists, and compromise. It's my personal feeling that geez the mother has done the "hard" work of carrying the damn baby and should have first bloody shot at the name! But then again not all men are that nice, and considerate like my husband. Sorry if I gloat. It's not them after all who have to watch what they eat, have all the stupid personal comments of "oh you're so big!, Oh you're carrying so low!, Oh you're so late!, Oh, you're so early to be showing so much!, and the unasked for touching, prodding, pushing, and kicking + pummeling from inside.
But anyhow, good luck, on the name choices. Can't be fun and can't be easy, but things could be worse ;)
We went into the hospital with a four or five names for a boy jotted on a piece of paper that we hadn't agreed on. I was sure I was having a boy - not based on an ultrasound or anything - but still we hadn't decided. Luckily for us, I had a girl and we weren't staring at a form that needed to be filled out before we could take our baby home. I lobbied hard for Caleb and Jacob but they weren't on our "maybe" list. You said that he wants to name the baby after him - it sounds like you have a middle name lined up at least.
